27 Holes by Von Hagge
Von Hagge designed the courses for golfers of all levels. Its attractiveness lies in its American style, rare in Argentina, with its many slopes, which force permanent changes and adjustments in the game, sand bunkers, hills and lakes. Its beauty offers spectacular views to the players and club residents.
While the layout represents a great challenge for golfers due to the multiplicity of tees on each hole, it is also very versatile in adapting to different levels of play. It is characterized by steep hills, "pampas grass" and undulating greens, along with a wide variety of indigenous animal species.
The Buenos Aires Golf Club can combine 3 courses with 9 holes each: Green, Yellow and Blue course.
The championship course is the Green – Yellow combination, with 6.972 yards.
However, the Blue one is equally competitive: of the 18th holes played in the 2000 World Cup, 4 were the Blue’s 1, 2, 3 and 4. Many members agree that the Blue course offers the most beautiful sights, due to the fact that most of its holes are located on the shores of the central lake.
Its style is more like the American designs, different from most Argentinian courses, which are short, target shot and parkland. This course has very few trees, fact that makes the wind one of its main challenges.
With its many water hazards, it looks quite intimidating. However, it offers a smooth start, a good player can be under par the first 6 or 7 holes. This allows the players to play a good couple of holes as a start, and build confidence so to face the end of the course, which is very challenging - especially from the 16th hole. As Augusta has its Amen corner, club members call these holes the “Soret” corner (or shit corner), since it has ruined some of the best rounds.
Flora and fauna are much prioritized; every detail was carefully thought and taken care of. There are two very big lakes, enabled to windsurf, row or fish. Even a large community of capybaras can be found wandering about, an animal which is rare to encounter. One can see that the location is very nature friendly; the club is highly integrated with the ecosystem.
