Creating the club was the idea of a group of golfers who wondered why they couldn’t enjoy, in Argentina, the first level courses they were used to play around the world.
This idea developed into a project, and this project was one of the country’s main golf boosts: in 2000 the club hosted the World Cup, with the exclusive presence of Tiger Woods (during his "Tiger Slam").
Absolutely no one could foresee that what began as a chat between businessmen friends, in 1987,would become the scene of an event that was televised to 142 countries and would be followed by 200 million people (according to estimates published by Clarin newspaper).
The designer commissioned to create the courses was the American architect Von Hagge, who has designed, with his prestigious firm Von Hagge, Smelek&Baril Corporation, over 240 fields in major cities such as Paris, Milan, Sydney, Tokyo, Geneva, and - within the United States - Miami, Philadelphia, Long Island, San Antonio, among others. Work began in 1991.
